I'm typically suspicious of subscription services for Seniors as the value that they often deliver isn't worth the cost. But there are exceptions. And Alexa Emergency Assist is one of them for $7.99 per month ($5.99 per month for Amazon Prime members).
Here's why Alexa Emergency Assist could be a "must have" as opposed to a "need to have" for many seniors. About 35% to 40% of Americans over 65 endure one or more of these three ailments: arthritis, visual impairment, and forgetfulness. In an emergency situation when minutes count, you cannot rely on being able to get to your phone in time and dial 911. This where Alexa Emergency Assist shines. You just need to ask,"Alexa, Call for Help", and your Amazon Alexa device does the rest. This service includes
24/7 Urgent Response: Trained agents who can help get you the help you need in an emergency, including reaching out & working with First Responders ("911")
Critical Information: Trained agents expedite help to you as first-responders receive pre-saved critical information like allergies, gate codes, or pets in the home.
Beyond asking Alexa for help, there is also a pro-active, limited security feature included: "Smart Alerts". With, Smart Alerts, you get notified if Alexa detects a smoke or carbon monoxide alarm, or the sound of glass breaking to quickly contact Urgent Responders whether you're home or away.
At "AI For Seniors", we do provide and set up - for free - the Amazon Alexa Echo Pop device that's capable of supporting Alexa Emergency Assist. However, Seniors will need to use their account with Amazon to sign-up for this service. Here's the link: https://www.amazon.com/Alexa-Emergency-Assist-Monthly-auto-renewal/dp/B0BZSZBK3T
